NORTHWICH satirical songwriter Chris Tavener has celebrated the release of his debut album and live DVD.

The launch party took place at Gullivers in Manchester last Friday and the experience proved to be a rewarding one for Chris.

He said: “It was brilliant, it was packed out which was really nice to see, I have a decent fanbase in Manchester and Liverpool.

“It was a really good night, I had a couple of support acts from nearby and I played with a band at the end so it all went really well.”

Chris already has his sights set on his next ambitious project and he has been raising funds to support it.

“I funded the DVD and album by myself and the subsequent project that I’m working on is a satirical song series,” he said.

“I thought it would be a great idea to tie in the album and DVD release with the funding for that project to keep me moving forward and I just finished the crowdfunding as well recently.

The end of 2017 saw Chris play a support set for Matt King, Super Hans from Peep Show, at Manchester Academy.

Chris said: “It was really good. It was interesting because he’s extremely like his character.

“He was a nice guy but he was really up for a night out and as soon as the show finished he was raring to go.

“All the Peep Show references were there, and it was just a great experience, I don’t think he watched my set in true Super Hans style, he was busy elsewhere backstage with his entourage.”

Chris keeps himself busy and is committed to making the most out of his ideas.

Chris said: “I’ve been filming a music video at the same time as promoting this album launch and it’s something completely different again.

“It’s to do with the World Cup this year, I’ve been looking for partners to help me with that.

“It’s been super busy, I’m touring later this year as well, so I don’t get much rest.

“In the past I have done about 350 gigs in a year, I really pack them in. It’s my full-time profession and I fully commit to it.

“I find it hard saying no to people when they ask me to play gigs.”

Chris will be touring the UK and Europe in September and his debut album and DVD ‘Is He Joking? (Live)’ are both available from the website rocketfuelhq.com/christavener
