THE Mobility and Access Group (MAG) are on the lookout for volunteer drivers for their new Handforth minibus.
The group were recently presented with a cheque for £2,000 from Tesco Extra Handforth Dean after coming second place in January and February’s Bags of Help scheme.
Thanks to the donation, MAG will be launching their new service next month.
Beryl Chapman, a trustee of MAG, said: “We will be launching the minibus at a special opening ceremony at Handforth Dean Extra in May 2018. Following the launch, leaflets will be distributed to the people of Handforth and also the churches, shops, libraries, businesses and the media, with the itinerary included.
“There will also be outside social events taking place on a monthly basis.”
The MAG bus will be a free service to ensure disabled and elderly residents of Handforth are not isolated and are able to get out within the community, including shopping trips and hospital visits.
Beryl added: “Our main priority now will be recruiting volunteers to drive the vehicle who are able to work just three to four hours a month and have a clean driving licence.”
Anyone interested in volunteering for the group is asked to contact Beryl Chapman on 01625 525567
