MANOR Park School and Nursery pupils ran more than 200 miles in total around their school field to raise money for Sport Relief.

The Sport Relief Mile campaign was launched at a special school assembly to help students learn about who is helped by the fundraising.

"I am incredibly proud of the children who showed great determination and resilience to complete the mile," said head teacher Simon Cotterill.

"They worked as a team to encourage and support each other."

The event was organised by the Manor Park School Association, a spokesman for which said: "It was fantastic to see so many friends, family and carers come to cheer and support the children during the event.

“Many thanks to everyone who has sponsored them."

The school's last sponsored mile raised more than £1,000, and the full fundraising total will be revealed after Easter.

The money raised will be split between Sport Relief and sports projects for the school.
