FLOPSY, Mopsy, Cottontail, Peter and Benjamin are vying for their mum’s attention after appearing in quick succession on Saturday.
The five lambs were born to mum Beatrice at Briddon Weir Farm in Cherry Tree Lane, Rostherne, some of the scores of new arrivals during the farm’s lambing season.
The three girls and two boys are all doing well, but because Beatrice is in such demand from her new-borns, farmers Jo and Dominic Fenton are helping out with their feeding.
“Beatrice had the lambs at tea time on Saturday, and we’ve never had five born to one ewe,” said Jo.
“The most we had was four last year, and Beatrice’s lambs are all healthy, although as she can’t feed them all at once we’re helping with bottle feeding – which will mean lots of sleepless nights.
“We called them characters from Beatrix Potter because I’m desperate to watch the new Peter Rabbit film, but can’t get to see it because I’m in the lambing shed every day.”
The lambing season at the farm is due to last until the middle of May.
