Due to adverse weather conditions over the weekend, the Wilmslow half marathon had to be cancelled.
The organisers have now set a provisional date for the rescheduled race – Sunday, June 24.
The race committee said: “Thank you for all your understanding and support since we announced the cancellation of today’s race in the early hours of the morning.
“We had been monitoring the weather for the last ten days and even yesterday (Saturday) there was optimism that we may escape the wilds of the weather predicted. Additional blankets were purchased and other contingency plans made.
“By 4.00am this morning (Sunday) we were faced with no options but to cancel.
“An emergency committee meeting was convened this morning and a provisional new date of Sunday, June 24, agreed. The great news is that this clashes with very few other races.”
The committee will confirm the new date once road closures and traffic management arrangements have been made. The online entry page will also re-open at this time.
Original entries will still be valid, but if you cannot make the new date, runners are encouraged to transfer their place to someone else.
