FIREFIGHTERS tackled a house fire in Handforth last night.

Crews from Wilmslow, Bollington and Cheadle were sent to the house in Woodlands Road at 8.25pm.

The firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, put out the fire, and one resident was treated for smoke inhalation. 

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire Service said: "One fire engine from Wilmslow. One fire engine from Bollington. One fire engine from Cheadle.

"Firefighters attended a fire in a bedroom on Woodlands Road in Handforth.

"Crews used one hose reel, two breathing apparatus and a large fan to extinguish the fire. One casualty was assessed for minor smoke inhalation."
