A PLAN has been submitted to build 11 dwellings in Barnton.
The application, by Weaver Vale Housing Trust, which has gone to Cheshire West planners is to erect the dwellings on the site of Oakwood House, Blackcroft Avenue,
The development will consist of 11 three bedroom houses, with three being sold as residential units on the open market and eight houses available as rented accommodation.
A flood report deems the site to be low flood risk but goes on to admit that discharge of water into a watercourse from heavy rain or flooding is unavailable on the site.
The site itself is located in the heart of Barnton and close to local amenities with shops along Runcorn Road within walking distance and in close proximity to Rosebank School.
The location was previously occupied by a two storey sheltered housing block owned by Weaver Vale Housing Trust and the site is surrounded by a mix of brick built semi-detached and terraced properties
A presentation with residents and councillors at Barnton Parish Council declared the sheltered scheme for unfit for purpose and could not be upgraded to meet current standards and subsequently the block was demolished with the aim of providing high quality, spacious accommodation for local residents at affordable home ownership and rent levels.
