SUPER sleuths will be invited to solve a murder during a dinner party at Quarry Bank.

They will be transported back to 1834 when the great and good of Styal were celebrating the mill’s 50th birthday, but unfortunately one of them didn’t get out alive.

Those attending the Loom and Doom Murder Mystery Dinner will be asked to solve the crime.

“I’m pleased to say there was no such murder and the tale is being told by actors for our entertainment,” said Rhys Davey, of the National Trust.

“However, there will be some serious sleuthing going on and the question is will the murderer be able to weave and spin an alibi that cannot be unpicked or will they be caught out?”

The story is set at a time when the Greg family were running Quarry Bank so it is rooted in history. Protagonists will include head overseer Ephraim Wainwright, mill medic Matron Mary Ann Goodbody and apprentice Millie Barkin.

The Loom and Doom Murder Mystery Dinner is on Friday, June 16, from 7pm to 10pm.

Tickets are £37.50 per person and include a drink on arrival, two-course dinner and participation in the murder mystery.
