KNUTSFORD Academy hosted its first careers fair last week, with 40 exhibitors and more than 600 students and parents attending.

The event on March 28, organised in partnership with Macclesfield Pledge, enabled students to speak directly to a wide range of organisations about the options available to them after GCSE and A Level exams.

Businesses including Knutsford-based Terry Total Lift Solutions, Barclays and Accenture spoke to students, along with colleges, universities and employment support services.

James Routs, head of marketing at the Academy said: “We were absolutely delighted with the success of the event, it was a great opportunity for our students to explore and understand what is available whether that be an apprenticeship or going to university.

"To welcome 40 exhibitors to the Academy was fantastic, it is really important we build strong relationships with the business community who provide invaluable help and support to our students and at the same time can look to recruit future employees.”

Sixth former Sally Hopkins said: “I am keen to start an apprenticeship in IT when I leave this summer and got to speak to three companies with opportunities that I am now following up.”
