SIXTH form students at Knutsford Academy took on a painful challenge last week, as four boys had their legs waxed for charity.

The Academy is aiming to raise £5,000 this year for the Teenage Cancer Trust, and – watched by more than 100 students – the boys helped contribute towards the total.

Beautician Hazel Moore gave up her time to perform the act, which was organised as part of the annual Runway on the Runway Event at Manchester Airport.

Ben Moser, one of the students who took part, said: “I was a bit concerned beforehand as to how much it was going to hurt and can confirm it really did, that said it was really worth it as the funds we are raising are going towards such a great cause.” At the event on March 31, the boys will be joined by eight other Academy sixth formers and are now looking forward to striding down the catwalk together with students from other schools.

They will also joined by two Academy teachers who will be modelling the current school uniform.

Nikki Cartwright, who is part of the events team, said: “We were very proud of the boys and it proved great entertainment for everyone watching, and fantastic way to raise money.

“We are now looking forward to the big event on March 3` and seeing them all on the catwalk.”
