BRIGHT students at Knutsford Academy’s Sixth Form college have been offered places at some of the UK’s most prestigious universities.

After starting the university application process in autumn, James Philpott and Kate Haselden have now received offers to study at Oxbridge.

Cambridge University has offered James a place studying Natural Sciences at Fitzwilliam College while Kate has received an offer to read English Literature at Mansfield College at the University of Oxford.

James said: “Having worked so hard on my application, it feels great to have received an offer. I hope I can get the grades I need this summer.”

Both James and Kate will now look to begin their studies once they have completed their A Levels in the summer.

Sarah Kirkham, head of the sixth form, said: “I am immensely proud of them both. They spent a huge amount of time preparing for the application process which included interviews and admissions tests. Now all their hard work has paid off.”

The Academy is also celebrating with all students who applied to university now being offered a place, with many at leading Russell Group Universities such as Imperial College London, UCL, Bristol, Edinburgh, Manchester and Nottingham.
