A GRAVY granule product sold in Lidl is being recalled over fears that it could cause headaches, dizziness, nausea and vomiting.
Kania Gravy Granules 300g, both meat and chicken-flavoured products, are being recalled from Lidl, which has a store in Wilmslow, due to chemical contamination.
The product, with best before dates of October 2017 and November 2017, contains high levels of xylene which can cause ‘adverse effects.’ A spokesman for the Food Standards Agency said: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it.
“Exposure to xylene in food products represents a health risk as it can cause adverse effects such as headache, dizziness, nausea and vomiting. The contaminant levels in this product exceed those set to minimise this risk and the product is therefore being recalled as a precaution.”
Customers who have bought the product are urged to return it to Lidl for a full refund.
Other Kania products are not affected.
