A HOST of famous faces headed to Wilmslow’s newest bar at the weekend for its grand opening.

The Symposium, in Grove Street, is owned by Hollyoaks actor Ashley Taylor-Dawson, who lives in the town and promises to offer a unique experience to Wilmslow with cocktails, Tapas and live music.

Featuring an ‘opulent’ interior, the bar is situated at the former site of The Stolen Lamb Greek restaurant.

Stars from Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and the Real Housewives of Cheshire stopped by for the bar’s opening night on Saturday, October 15.

A spokesman for The Symposium told the Wilmslow Guardian: “The launch went really well, the bar was absolutely rammed and we had a lot of celebrities turn up for it.

“The bar will offer something completely unique for Wilmslow and, having seen the interior, unique for the surrounding towns and villages too.”

The Symposium will offer music from a variety of genres, including jazz and blues on Wednesdays, while DJs will play until the early hours at weekends.

Friday evenings will see guests be entertained with ‘Prosecco and Piano’ from 5pm, while Thursdays will be hosted by Catherine Taylor-Dawson and Danny McCabe.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Ashley said: “Wilmslow is crying out for a place to enjoy great live music and bespoke cocktails with a thriving atmosphere.

“Our vision is to make The Symposium the go-to venue for high quality live music – we’ve got some fantastic musicians and artists set to perform.”

Ashley has designed the venue alongside business partner George Yiannis, who believes it has a Hellenic style.

“Ancient Greece has played a huge part in inspiring The Symposium,” he said.

“Our ‘Ambrosia’ menu will include 15 seasonal small plates, with intense flavours, designed for sharing, whilst the ‘Elixir’ magical potion cocktail menu offers classics with a twist.”

The Symposium is open Wednesday to Sunday, from 5pm until late.
