THIS April, Knutsford Little Theatre gets Unleashed.

Almost 11 years since its last showing at the Little Theatre, Jim Broughton revives John Godber’s controversial comedy, Unleashed.

Not one for the faint-hearted nor the easily-offended, Bob Jennings’ plays the mild-mannered, middle-aged IT manager Dennis as he joins his co-workers – Sean Duvall as the over-excited, wide-eyed Gary, and David Muncaster as pornography-obsessed Bob – on a business trip-turned-safari expedition.

Narration, courtesy of the characters, intersperses Dennis’ story.

The cast double up on characters in order to parallel the monotony and mundanity of domesticity with the sleazy, seedy underbelly of Amsterdam’s sex industry, to great effect.

Backed by an eclectic soundtrack and an ingenious set, the audience is immersed into one of the most iconic red light districts in the world. Ali Hulford plays Tish, an experienced lady of the night, working alongside Anna Armstrong as Natasha, a Czech sex worker, new to the scene – and it's no coincidence that the same actors are also playing Dennis’ similarly-aged wife and daughter, respectively.

With adult themes and language from start to finish (and two poles firmly bolted to the stage) book the babysitter, and prepare yourself for an unmissable evening of clogs, questionable Indonesian food, and a surprisingly touching tale of double lives woven into a comedy of sexual manners.

The show runs from Wednesday, April 6 to Saturday, April 9, with the reasonably-priced bar open from 7pm, ready for a 7:30pm start.

Tickets £10 and are available via knutsfordlittletheatre.com.
