Students at Knutsford Academy's sixth form college are celebrating after being offered places at a number of the UK’s top universities.

The application process started in autumn and in recent weeks they have received offers with a view to commencing their studies once they have completed their A Levels in the summer.

Sarah Kirkham, head of the college sixth form, said: “We are absolutely delighted with how many of our students have been offered a university place, 99% of students that applied received an offer, substantially higher than the national average of 87%.”

Eleanor Davies, who has an offer from Oxford University added: “Having applied to study French and German at a number of fantastic universities, receiving an offer from Oxford University came as a particular delight to me after a time-consuming and challenging application process. At each stage of the application, I received great support from the school and am particularly grateful to all of my subject teachers for having given me confidence enough that I might be able to apply for something like this.”

Along with Eleanor, students have also been offered places at a number of the leading Russell Group universities including head girl Molly White with a place at Manchester University, Gwilym Rees at Nottingham University and Aimee Cashmore at Birmingham University.

Sarah Kirkham added: “We have a real focus on providing personalised support for our students both from teaching and preparing for the next step, so that when they leave the Academy they have the best opportunities in front of them.”
