KNUTSFORD-based charity, Find A Better Way has received a boost to its fundraising efforts following a donation of football shirts from Manchester United.

The Barclays Premier League club helped raise funds for Sir Bobby Charlton’s charity by donating shirts from the 2014/15 season for the United legend to sign.

The packed out event raised more than £10,000 towards the charity’s ongoing research and development programmes.

Sir Bobby said: “We are delighted with the success of the shirt sale and are extremely grateful to Manchester United for its generous support.

"We had an overwhelming response to the event and the money raised will go towards the work we are sponsoring in a number of universities across the UK into the ongoing task of detection and eradication of landmines.”

Manchester United is a strong supporter of Find A Better Way and in addition to donating its team shirts, the club also sponsored the charity’s annual fundraising gala dinner in December.

Sir Bobby retains strong links with football and believes the charity can harness the global language of soccer to educate about the dangers of landmines.

“We’re extremely proud of the work of Sir Bobby and Find A Better Way and we have been delighted to be able to support the charity’s fundraising efforts,” added Edward Woodward, executive vice chairman and director at Manchester United.

Sir Bobby added: "It’s extremely encouraging to receive the continued support from the football community to help with the innovative work of Find A Better Way.

"With their ongoing help and support, we can continue to raise the profile of our programmes and ensure the future of research and development programmes."
