A WELL known restaurant chain has closed down in Alderley Edge.

The Loch Fyne Restaurant is a chain of 41 seafood restaurants in the United Kingdom owned and operated by Greene King plc.

In a notice posted on its website the owner's of the Brook Lane eaterie said: "We are aware that some of you may have placed festive bookings with us and we are sorry that we will be unable to deliver these for you.

"A member of the team will be in touch with you asap to try and resolve this with you directly. "The great news though, is that there are many other fantastic Loch Fyne restaurants up and down the UK with your nearest restaurant being Knutsford."

However, when the Guardian got in touch with Loch Fyne, a spokeswoman confirmed that Knutsford is also set to close in the New Year.

The spokeswoman explained: "Sadly, after very careful consideration we have taken the difficult decision to sell our restaurants in Alderley Edge and Knutsford to enable us to reinvest in our estate and open new restaurants in areas where they will do well.

"Our team from the Alderley Edge restaurant is temporarily working at Loch Fyne in Knutsford until both teams then transfer across to the employment of the new owners of each restaurant.

"We would like to thank our customers for their support over the years and very much hope that we will see them in one of our other restaurants soon."
