THE staff of World Heavyweight Champ's first school have been speaking about their delight after Tyson Fury's victory.
Five-year-old Tyson started his education at Styal Primary School, Altrincham Road, in 1993 after the family settled close by on Moss Lane.
Head teacher Helen Smith, who stands by the school motto of 'valuing the individual to believe and achieve', said she could not be more please at the former pupil's success.
She explained: "People talk about him because we are so proud of any pupil who has success in any walk of life.
"I think he has always had a positive mental attitude and that has helped him and I am delighted by his success.
"Despite the fact that he had left we still know the family well and he has in the past donated boxing gloves to the school."
The school's business manager Sally Hunt said: "I remember that Tyson was quite a character at a young age. He was a big lad and good at sports including football, which the school actively encourages. His mother was always very supportive of the school.
"He was with us from the age of five right through to 11 and was always a popular boy with other pupils."
