THE former head of Knutsford Academy, Kevin Hollins, has died, the school has announced.

Kevin, who lived in Congleton, was appointed to as head master in 1997, and spent 17 years in charge of the school, until his retirement last year.

During his time at the school, Kevin oversaw the transition of Knutsford High School to Knutsford Academy, as well as the creation of the brand new studio school, which opened in 2014.

James Routs, from the Academy, said: "Today we have received the very sad news that Kevin Hollins, who was the head teacher of Knutsford Academy until he retired in April 2014, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, after a short but very difficult illness.

"We have informed our staff, students and parents today of the news."

Mike Cladingbowl, executive principal at Knutsford Academy commented in a letter to parents: “Many of you will have known Kevin and I am sure you will join me, the staff, students and governors in expressing our sincere condolences to his wife and family. “ Kevin was admitted to East Cheshire Hospice last week but died on Tuesday afternoon.

A ‘book of condolence’ has been opened in the main reception area at Bexton Road if anyone would wish to sign it.
