CHAIRMAN Julie Wade welcomed club members to the first meeting after the summer break. She reminded everyone to book their places on the one-day workshop with Bill Dixon, which is to take place on Saturday, November 21.
Julie then introduced the demonstrator for the afternoon, Lorraine Simcox, from Leek, with the title of All Kinds of Everything' Lorraine used a variety of unusual and improvised containers for designs, including large coconut spathes, a large piece of eucalyptus bark and an old metal picture frame. Lorraine used a variety of colourful flowers, including many she had grown on her own allotment.
The title of the members' competition this month was Afterglow and the winners of the various classes were: Novices and new members 1. Lorraine Dorsett; 2. Sally Dabbs; 3. Lynne Picken Advanced 1. Marilyn Makepeace-Warne Premier 1. Joan Wilkinson; 2. Di Jones; 3. Dorothy Monks.
The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 21, at 1.30pm for 2pm.The demonstrator at the October meeting will be Sue Maddocks, from Halifax
