RESIDENTS have just 15 days left to comment on a planning appeal to build 119 homes off Main Road in Goostrey.

Congleton-based Gladman Developments is appealing the decision by Cheshire East Council to refuse the proposal at its strategic planning board in July.

The developer wanted to build on land, by ShearBrook, and will now wait for the planning inspector to decide on its fate. The deadline for comments for the appeal is October 15.

One of the main reasons for rejecting the proposal was the affect it would have on the nearby Jodrell Bank Observatory.

But in its appeal documents Gladman has stated that the work would not affect Jodrell.

"The application is not contrary to policy PS10 because it has not been evidenced that the proposed development will unacceptably impair the efficiency of the Jodrell bank radio telescope," it said.

"Policy PS10 places the onus on the council to consult with Jodrell Bank Observatory and, where JBO posits an objection, to demonstrate that the proposed development will have an unacceptable impact on the operation of the telescope.

"However, CEC has no evidence before it to support a reason for refusal on the basis that the application cause conflict with policy PS10."

The ShearBrook Action Group has delivered flyers around the village recently and is urging residents to submit their comments to the appeal.
