PREPARATIONS are well underway for the third annual Pumpkin Path in Knutsford town centre, with organisers promising it will be the best yet.

Businesses in Knutsford will once again be inviting the town's children to find some spooky clues hidden around the town between 5pm and 8pm on Saturday, October 31.

Past events have proved to be hugely popular, with children enjoying the fun in collecting the clues and their parents browsing the shops at the same time.

And like last year, there will be a surprise event for those taking part at 7pm.

Stef Meachin, business development manager at Gusto, told the Guardian there was a slight change to this year's event, with it taking place on two of the town's roads.

"The only thing that will be really different is that we are expecting it to be bigger than ever," he said.

"We had feedback that it was all over the town, so this year it will just be on King Street and Minshull Street.

"We've got a lot of support from Knutsford Hosts, the Lions and the British Red Cross. It has been a little bit more thought out this year so we have got a first aid point, a 'lost child' point and marshalls on every corner.

"There will be a surprise on the evening like there was last year and it will take place on Silk Mill Street at 7pm.

"We're just looking forward to a really great event."

Fellow organiser Julie Chard, from Mr Simms Sweet Shop, added: "With parents already asking me if the Pumpkin Path is taking place, I'm confident this year's event will be the biggest and spookiest yet.

"Seeing all the little monsters running around our streets hunting the Pumpkins, makes all the hard work worthwhile. I would ask that parents look out for the Pumpkin Path postcards which will be sent home in all local primary school reading bags in the next few weeks."
