Crosstown WI by May Lawson

The recent meeting at Crosstown WI was attended by 32 members. The centenary banner was displayed showing the excellent work of Edith Walker and Jean Tighe. June Sherlock won the ballot for the Buckingham Palace garden party.

Guest speaker for the afternoon was Ann Gates who gave a floral demonstration entitled 'I can see a rainbow'. Ann gave many interesting facts about rainbows when she was arranging her flowers, it is round and not crescent shaped. The bulk of it is hidden by the horizon and that it is unlucky to point at it. She explained about all the colours of the rainbow and their meaning.

Ann finished her excellent demonstration with a poem and her arrangements were put in the raffle which was drawn after the refreshments.

Diary dates: group meeting on April 23; Weaver Valley choir on April 24. Future outings were mentioned, one for lunch and entertainment in Chester and a trip to Wensleydale to a cheese factory.
