A KNUTSFORD pub has been named the best place to eat in the south Manchester region by the general public.

The Old Sessions House in Canute Place fought off fierce competition to win the award for ‘Best Premium Casual Dining – South Manchester’ at the Eat, Drink and Sleep Awards held on Monday evening.

The awards are voted for by the public and Paul Newman and David Mooney, owners of the New Moon Pub Company, said they were delighted with the award.

Paul said: "‘We love awards like this.

"They are a true reflection of what our customers think of us, as the short listed venues are voted for by the general public. We are chuffed to bits!"

The Old Sessions House was shortlisted alongside Volta, The Launderette and Alberts Restaurant & Bar for the award.

David Mooney added: "This is what we are all about, premium dining in relaxed surroundings and with great wines, cocktails and ales too!

"Our great team at TOSH have done us proud."

Paul and David were also recognised for their contribution to the industry and were shortlisted as 'Best Entrepreneurs' in the industry, alongside Carlo & Marcello Distefano from the San Carlo Group and Tim Bacon & Jeremy Roberts from Knutsford-based Living Ventures.

New Moon has now established six successful venues across the north west in three years and is due to open its seventh site in Liverpool in May.

There are also plans for a further five sites across the region.
