HUNDREDS of runners, joggers and walkers from across Cheshire joined in the fun at Age UK’s Tatton Park 10k and 2k events on Sunday to help raise funds to support vulnerable older people.
Participants got into the party spirit at Age UK’s popular fundraiser, kicking off with an aerobic warm-up before the race led by a local fitness expert from Virgin Active.
Everyone who took part in the events helped to raise funds for Age UK’s work that supports vulnerable older people across the country such as tackling loneliness.
Some funds raised this year will also enable Age UK Cheshire East to provide programmes for older people in their local area such as its ‘Help at Home’ scheme and to offer services such as information and advice.
Lydia Curran of Age UK, said: “We’re delighted that so many people laced up their trainers to take part in our 10k and 2k events.
"It was fantastic to see hundreds of runners and spectators out in force and there was an exciting atmosphere enjoyed by all.
"Everyone who took part has helped raise funds to enable the Age UK network to support older people where it’s needed the most, helping to tackle huge issues like loneliness and isolation, so we can’t thank you enough for your support.”
Dominic Anderson, deputy chief executive of Age UK Cheshire, said: “This year’s Tatton Park 10k run was another fantastic event, put on by Age UK, in collaboration with Age UK Cheshire East.
"We would like to thank all runners and volunteers for supporting the event, as we rely on members of the public to raise funds to support older people locally."
