PRESIDENT Virginia Williamson welcomed members to the recent meeting of Plumley WI. The craft group had enjoyed a days painting; there was also a walk in Little Budworth and outings planned to Oswaldtwistle Mill and Gawsworth Hall.
Speaker for the evening was Colin Edmondson, who gave an informative talk about the subsidence caused by salt mining in Northwich around 100 years ago. His dramatic pictures of the devastation caused were enthralling. He was thanked by Sylvia Hankinson.
Lynn Barber won the monthly competition; Sylvia McKellar won the Christmas tree decoration competition; Christine England won the Bloom competition. This year, the Bloom competitions have raised £30.70 which is to be donated to the British Diabetic Association.
The next meeting is the Christmas meeting with entertainment from handbell ringers and the competition is a Christmas cracker.
