KNUTSFORD Little Theatre presents its last adult performance of the season Natural Causes written by Eric Chappell and directed by well known Knutsfordian, Noel Cornes.

This is a very, very funny play but with topics that include depression, a potential suicide and euthanasia, not to mention global warming, it is also a very, very dark comedy. I loved it!

Just reading the script made me laugh out loud and in the hands of five experienced actors, and a long suffering rubber plant, the action is expertly brought to life – or should that be death?

Chris Marriott, fresh from multiple murders in KLT’s last presentation, plays Walter Bryce who wishes to dispose of his wife, Celia who, according to Walter, has a death wish anyway.

Celia is wonderfully portrayed by Viv Cunningham.

It turns out that Walter has an attractive secretary, played by local girl, Viccie Dougall. Could she be influencing his determination to put paid to his wife?

Enter at intervals, two men who have opposite slants on life and death; Vincent, is a member of Exodus, a euthanasia group and the other, Withers, is an earnest member of the Samaritans: chalk and cheese.

Tony Turner, complete with Welsh accent, is cast as the rather seedy Vincent while Paul Baston plays, with his usual charm, the sincere, upright Samaritan.

Indeed there is potential in this play for black comedy at its blackest and best which will keep you laughing up to the very end.

The play runs from Wednesday, May 21 to Saturday, May 24.

Doors open 7pm, curtain up 7.30pm. Tickets can be reserved by calling 01565 633000 or emailing tickets@knutsfordlittletheatre.com.
