UNDERPRIVILEGED children in Manchester will be waking up to a happier Christmas this year thanks to the generosity of Knutsfordians.
On December 17, over 50 volunteers gathered at Egerton Youth Club and working tirelessly throughout the day filling over 500 sacks with new toys and presents.
The sacks will be distributed by social workers to children who would otherwise receive no gifts on Christmas Day.
Sister Rita Lee, from the Lalley Centre in Collyhurst, popped in to the Egerton Centre and was ‘overwhelmed with the true spirit of the Knutsford community.”
Collyhurst in Manchester has been ranked in the country’s top ten most-deprived areas with as many as 57 per cent of children thought to be living in poverty.
The volunteers wanted to thank Celtic Toes Dancing School, residents who made donations, Key 103, schools and churches in Manchester, Sister Rita and the organisers who helped to make the project a success.
