THE Friends of the Moor (FOTM) proudly raised their new Green Flag on Saturday after being awarded the accolade for the fifth year running.
On Saturday afternoon, the Mayor of Knutsford Clr Barbara Coan helped to raise the 2013/2014 flag and gave a speech thanking the FOTM for their hard work with the help of CEC in achieving the award.
The Green Flag scheme was established in 1996 to recognise and reward the best parks and green spaces across the country.
The 5.5-acre Moor, opened in 1907, with its open grass and tree areas, wildflowers, ponds and children’s play areas, has impressed judges thus far, and FOTM are now working on achieving next year’s award.
Attending the event, including members of the FOTM group, was the President of the Lions, Frances Miller, and Lions members, Anita and Mike Goldman and Pat and Clive Heath, who have helped at a number of events during the year.
PCSO Greg Bithell also attended as it is one of the areas in Knutsford he patrols and has an interest in. After the flag was raised attendees were treated to refreshments provided by the FOTM.
