ANTI-HS2 campaigners attended this year's Cheshire County Show where they answered questions about the proposed high speed rail link.

HS2 Parish Council Action Group member Andrew Shaw said he was surprised at just how many people had visited their stand over the two-day premiere agricultural event.

He said: "We have had several hundred people coming up to us and asking us about HS2 and out of those, just three have said they think it is a good idea.

"A lot of people have said they have heard about it but don't really know anything about it - we had a couple who live in Hale, near the airport station, and they didn't realise that their house was just 200 to 300 yards away from the line.

"People have been able to see where the line will be in relation to their house.

"As part of the parish council group, I want people to know about it and do the right thing.

"We are trying to support our parish and the people of our parish.

"We will continue to try and get the right information to those people and make sure any questions they have are answered by George Osborne.

As well as maps and information leaflets, the HS2 stand also displayed cartoons by Lostock Green resident Bill Stott.
