A NEW era has begun for Toft Road’s silver screen.
It may be the closing scene for Knutsford Studio Cinema, but the show must go on with the launch of Curzon Knutsford.
Tonight, Wednesday, the great and the good of the town are marking the historic change with an invitation-only screening of the Frank Langella film Robot and Frank.
As reported in the Guardian, Curzon signed a 25-year lease with Cheshire East Council in November, which saved the cinema and the civic centre.
It is the arthouse cinema chain’s first picture house outside the London area, and the second major change for Knutsford’s cinema after it originally opened as the Marcliff in 1935.
About £170,000 has been spent on the transformation which has been led by ABDA Creative Design, who designed the National Football Museum at Manchester.
Curzon will also be networking with other businesses in the area tomorrow, Thursday, and everyone is welcome.
A spokesman said: “The event will be a drop-in morning so Knutsford businesses can come and see the newly-refurbished venue and meet the team.”
The session will be held between 11am and 1pm with refreshments.
