Classical music fans were left confused when actor David Suchet replaced his brother John behind the microphone on his radio show for an April Fool’s prank.
Listeners bombarded John’s Classic FM show asking if he had a cold because his voice sounded different, but the secret was only revealed when he interrupted David to take over the show as normal.
David did give the listeners some clues and even at one point played the theme to his long-running ITV drama Poirot before coming clean.
He said: “This crime has pushed the little grey cells of mine to the extreme – and yet from the start, I knew this was a crime that I was certainly not going to get away with. It is I, Hercule Poirot, aka your brother David Suchet, who has been trying to pass myself off as you this morning.”
He said: “I’ve absolutely loved it. I’ve had the time of my life, but I think one Suchet on Classic FM is quite enough.”
John presents the weekday morning show from 10am to 1pm.
