Kevin Spacey has revealed he used his performance in House Of Cards as a begging letter to Woody Allen for a film role.
The actor plays Francis Underwood in the remake of the classic political series which screens on Netflix and told the Radio Times that he was desperate to land a part in one of Allen’s movies.
He said: “Every time he announces a new movie, I never get an audition. So I introduced myself and sent him a Netflix subscription and said I don’t know if you’ve seen my work, but you might want to watch this series.”
American Beauty star Kevin said that the gamble appeared to have paid off, as Allen had promised to consider him for future projects.
He said: “He wrote me a very lovely letter back and he thanked me for the Netflix subscription and said he would absolutely consider me.
“I’m ambitious in different ways than I was when I started out – but there are things like that… There’s any number of things that I may discover on this road, but it’s a wide open road and it’s very exciting to be on it.”
