BLITZ Kids’ new album will remind you what it was like to be young but with the pressures of growing up just around the corner.
The Good Youth is about looking to the future, seizing opportunities and the insecurities that sometimes hold you back.
But if you are an alternative rock fan, it is the Nantwich band’s excellent riffs and hooks that will draw you in.
On My Own is the clear highlight, starting with pounding guitars and building to an anthemic chorus.
Singer Joe James channels his inner Daryl Palumbo, the frontman of Glassjaw and Head Automatica and one of Blitz Kids’ biggest influences.
The single Run For Cover, about a suffocating relationship, is another standout track.
Fast and catchy, you can imagine it filling dance floors at rock venues.
Songs like Perfect, which combines rock and dance elements, also show the quartet are developing ideas.
Blitz Kids clearly have bigger and better things ahead of them.
