A WARRINGTON barbershop quartet hit the airwaves of Radio Two on Christmas Day evening.
Cheshire Chord Company, who rehearse at William Beamont High School, performed in the programme, Sing in Heavenly Peace: The True Story of Silent Night.
The hour long programme was introduced by Sir Cliff Richard and found out the truth behind the world’s most famous carol.
Alison Linfield, from the choir, said they were delighted to be involved.
She added: “We were one of the contempory choirs and our four part close harmony version was featured and three chorus members were interviewed. “I think it’s really great that the chorus from Warrington are not only the national champions but also featured on the programme.”
It promises to be a packed year for the award winning choir which celebrates its 20th birthday in 2013.
They are holding a fundraising concert later this month for one of the members who has walked 100km in the Sahara to raise money for a children’s charity.
Next month, they are competing in the Majestic Choir Festival and then in June it is a 20th birthday celebration concert at the Parr Hall.
