THE force was strong at St Helens Town Hall – as a Star Wars loving couple tied the knot at a fancy dress themed wedding that saw guests kitted out as Yoda and Chewbacca.

Kim and Andy Everitt’s big day even featured musical tracks from the sci-fi franchise, a Darth Vader cake and a lightsaber guard of honour.

The couple from Lancaster met at a reenactment event in St Helens in May 2018 and they decided to head back to the town where their love story began to exchange their vows.

Kim, 39, said: “One of our first conversations was about Star Wars ...so when we were thinking what to do for our register office wedding ceremony we thought it was perfect.

“St Helens Town Hall was the perfect venue and made it so special for us. I walked into the Imperial March in my wedding dress, which was based on Padme’s and met my Anakin, aka Andy.

“The registrar even said May the Force be with you, it was just so special and so us.

“We have 106 lightsabers at home, I even made sure my flower holder was a lightsaber.”

The happy couple walked out of St Helens Town Hall on Friday, June 21 hand in hand under a lightsaber guard of honour to the Star Wars theme tune.

They were followed by their R2D2 flower girls and guests dressed as characters such as Yoda, 7ft 3ins Chewbacca, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Han Solo.

Kim added: “I made the dress as close as possible from photos but a lovely friend of mine hand beaded and crocheted the veil from photos of Padme’s veil, which took her about 200 hours. I was delighted.

Knutsford Guardian:

“Everything was as close as we could get it without access to Hollywood wardrobes and we even had a Darth Vader wedding cake. It was just the most perfect day.”

Kim and Andy also celebrated their union with a hand-fasting the next day at Covert Lodge in Haydock where they first met – with a Western Theme.

Hand-fasting is a symbolic unity ritual in which a couple stand face to face as their hands are tied together

Congratulations Kim and Andy...May the force be with you.
