THE Arley Garden Festival marks its 25th anniversary in June with a celebration of horticulture and gardening excellence.

Event organiser Helen Begent said the show would be one of the best in its long history.

“This is such a landmark for us that we have got some special plans to celebrate the occasion as well as all the usual elements that have made this such a successful show over the years,” she said.

Every year around 5,000 garden enthusiasts visit the event.

One of the highlights this year will be a lecture by internationally-renowned, landscape designer Tom Stuart-Smith, whose gardens have won gold medals at Chelsea.

There will be specialist plant nurseries, a floral marquee, food fair, craft stalls and question time with gardening experts.

Also expect family fun with live music, a classic car display and children’s entertainment plus in the Countryside Marquee visitors will be able to enjoy stick making, coppice fencing and willow weaving demonstrations. Meanwhile, pupils from nearby schools are busy creating their own show gardens, which will be given awards based on the votes of judges and the public.

n The show is open 10am to 5pm on June 22 and 23. Visit arleyhallandgardens.com or call 01565 777353.
