IT was not too long ago that finding somewhere to eat in the centre of Warrington could be a bit of a challenge.

But Golden Square has been leading the charge with multiple venues now surrounding the Old Fish Market.

So we headed to Dorado Lounge, based inside the former Post Office building, to sample some Sunday lunch.

It is hard to recognise the old life of the building when you walk inside with quirky lights, wallpaper and colour creating a a very different feel.

And the atmosphere is fantastic too, bustling, chatty and busy with ages from zero to ninety all enjoying the food.

I went for Mexican Superbowl from the busy menu.

Essentially it was a plate packed with Mexican tastes from salsa to black beans and guacamole to rice. I also add halloumi and chorizo for extra flavour and it was the perfect introduction to the Dorado experience.

My wife also went Mexican with a burrito wrap with grilled halloumi with fries on the side.

But if Mexican isn’t to your palate, there is a variety of other dishes include burgers and fried chicken.

For dessert, my wife said her banana cheesecake was one of the best puddings she could remember while I went for the Lounge sundae with brownie pieces. Although this was a little too large for even my sweet tooth.

But we left Dorado very impressed and certain to return.
