NILE Rodgers and Chic are bringing their good times and disco vibes to Haydock Park.

They are visiting the historic racecourse on June 22 as part of The Jockey Club Live, its summer season of live concerts.

Nile Rodgers is a multiple Grammy-winning composer, producer, arranger and guitarist who has continued to redefine and push the boundaries of pop music since the 70s.

As the co-founder of Chic, he pioneered the music that generated chart-topping hits like Le Freak and sparked the advent of hip-hop with Good Times resulting in 11 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominations.

His productions for artists like David Bowie (Lets Dance), Diana Ross (Upside Down, I’m Coming Out) and Madonna (Material Girl, Like A Virgin) have sold more than 300 million albums and 50 million singles worldwide while his collaborations with Daft Punk, Avicii, Sigala, Disclosure and Sam Smith have continued to set trends.

Releasing their ninth studio album, It’s About Time, the release saw the band once again work the cream of the crop of the current music stars ranging from Mura Masa and Stefflon Don to Lady Gaga.

But expect to hear some of the best-known pop anthems from the past four decades - a reflection of the some 200 production credits that Rodgers has to his name.

Dickon White, regional director for Jockey Club Racecourses North West, said: “Having the legendary Nile Rodgers and Chic headline Haydock Park in June is surely going to be one of the highlights of the summer. His vast catalogue of hits over the decades will have everyone, young and old, dancing the night away after a great evening of racing so be sure to get your tickets early to avoid disappointment.”

Previous stars at The Jockey Club have included Kylie, Olly Murs, The Jacksons and Culture Club.

Tickets will be on sale at 8am on Friday at thejockeyclublive.co.uk. They start at £37.50 for adults and £18.75 for child tickets.
