ONE of the highest rated breweries in the world paid a visit to Knutsford to offer a tutored tasting of 10 of its beers.

Manchester’s Cloudwater, which specialises in modern and seasonal small batch beer, hosted an evening at craft ale and gin specialist Dexter and Jones on September 13.

The ticket-only event sold out in less than 24 hours and the ‘tap takeover’ saw the team talk about the style and the processes involved in making each beer.

Mike Parker, from Dexter and Jones said: “Our ‘meet the brewer’ nights are very popular and in the two years we’ve welcomed more than 20 different breweries to Knutsford.

"We were delighted when Manchester’s Cloudwater’s brewery agreed to host September's event, it’s taken more than two years to get them here but it was definitely worth the wait. Tickets for the event sold out in less than 24 hours due to the popularity of the brewery.

"We had a full tap takeover, so all our 10 lines were pouring Cloudwater beers on the night and our guests got to sample each of the beers ranging from a 2.9 per cent pale ale through to a 13 per cent Imperial chocolate stout which had been conditioned in bourbon barrels for six weeks.

"Cloudwater brewery manager Mark and his colleague Connor provided a tutored tasting giving an insight about each beer and the brewing process."

Earlier this year, Cloudwater was rated the second best brewery in the world from more than 26,000 brewers worldwide at the RateBeer Best Awards.

It was the first UK brewery to ever make the top 10 list.
