GENRE-SPANNING singer-songwriter Kirsty Almeida’s new album, Moonbird, has been receiving great reviews.
And Warrington music lovers have the chance to see her in an intimate setting thanks to a show at Priestley College.
Kirsty will be performing on the Viola Beach Stage on March 23 with her Cherry Tree String Quartet and full band, The Troubadours.
The singer’s nine-song fourth record marks her return to music after a six-year absence and has been mixed by five-time Grammy award-winner Jerry Boys, who has worked with the likes of R.E.M, Everything But The Girl and Buena Vista Social Club.
Kirsty sees the eclectic album as a new beginning.
She said: “This album debuts the real me – the warrior, the artist, the wizard, the girl, the broken, the found and the re-birthed.”
Support is from John Haycock, whose music is said to bridge the gap between West African folk and modern electronica, visiting hip-hop, house and dub along the way.
