THERE are occasional days when The Knutsfordian is forced to put his head in his hands and bewail the state of the local Conservative Party.

The Knutsfordian knows he is in dangerous territory by naming the party concerned.

Last time The Knutsfordian opined about local Cheshire East Tory decisions he was told to ‘seek help’ by one reader, a phrase which still rankles with him as he is a keen supporter of mental health charities and, as such, finds that phrase particularly distasteful.

However, The Knutsfordian’s head was firmly in his hands after reading our beloved Cheshire East leader’s ‘Easter Message’ to us underlings, sorry, council tax payers.

Council leader Michael Jones produced a quite stunning message.

Clr Jones kicked off with daffodils, chocolate, and ‘faith’.

Obviously referring solely to Christian faith and how it relates to Easter, The Knutsfordian is bemused by these references given it’s largely accepted our country is tagged as Christian (though The Knutsfordian would dub that Protestant), but widely embraces multi-faiths – even in Cheshire.

The four-day Easter break for those lucky enough not to be in retail, the police, fire, or ambulance, self-employed, or other victims of our 24/7 society, will, as Clr Jones opined, have had time to think of their own goals in life.

Quite how our leader spent the break re-evaluating the council’s key goals, The Knutsfordian cannot comprehend.

The Easter ‘message’ then descends into pure party politics taking pot shots at Labour and that UKIP mob.

Clr Jones said: “Voting UKIP or Labour means you are voting for unprecedented concrete across our countryside.”

The Knutsfordian contends Cheshire East has done much to wreck its own green belt and countryside without assistance from other political parties.

Clr Jones ends by saying he ‘will personally deliver and fight for what is right for the people of Cheshire East.’ HS2, BeWILDerwood, huge housing estates, no local plan, no highways plan?

The Knutsfordian rests his case.

PS The Knutsfordian welcomes the news that Knutsford Town Council has finally agreed to commemorate Laurie Burton’s great contribution to the town after only three years of campaigning by his friends.

Mr Burton will have his name on a bench.

According to one councillor only the town’s mayors deserve better. Fascinating.

PPS The Knutsfordian was lucky enough to spend Easter in Cheshire-by-the-sea, or Abersoch as it is known.

Sadly, catching up with his Knutsford neighbours he only ever sees in Abersoch meant he missed the Bunny Hop which, by all accounts, was a hoppity success!
