THE Knutsfordian is feeling distinctly redundant this week as Knutsfordians are shooting from their own hips and scoring some palpable hits.

In fact, one comment reflected The Knutsfordian’s own thoughts on the proposed Knutsford Mistletoe Markets so perfectly, The Knutsfordian had to check he had not written it in his sleep.

The Mistletoe Market is the latest event to get the ‘support’ of Knutsford Town Council’s events committee.

It doesn’t appear to matter how much disruption will be caused to Knutsford residents by this six-week long market – and not just to those who live next to the Heath and the Little Heath – the events committee is, as ever, predictably supportive.

The Knutsfordian would like to know who will benefit from this endless stream of events?

What are the benefits to Knutsford residents?

The Knutsfordian understands the need for a vibrant local economy and the need for a few decent shops.

But what of those people who toil in Manchester City centre five days a week and enjoy quiet weekends at home in Knutsford?

Or those who jet down to London Monday to Friday and want nothing more than a Netflix session or a DVD boxed set at the weekend?

I suppose we Knutsfordians must blame our MP George for improving the economy so the massed Knutsfordian credit card limit is seen as rich-pickings.

The Knutsfordian is now working on his proposal for a “surprise Knutsford weekend”, and fully expects the events committee to be supportive.

The surprise will be that nothing happens.

PS The Knutsfordian’s evening television viewing was recently rudely interrupted by the police helicopter buzzing over the west wing.

The twitter erupted into a frenzy of speculation as to what was going on, but after an hour or so all was quiet.

The Knutsfordian asked news editor Mr Wilson what had happened and was horrified to find out Mr Wilson knew about it but could not get any details from the police!

It appears that Cheshire Police’s press office doesn’t comment on ‘local incidents’.

Haven’t we got some police and crime commissioner cove who is supposed go keep us all informed about police and crime in Knutsford?

PPS Ms Pole spent much of Saturday lecturing The Knutsfordian on the importance of International Women’s Day and its Inspiring Change theme.

She was, however, singularly unimpressed at the way Amber Lounge was signifying its support for what it dubbed “ladies day”, or “women’s day”.

Amber Lounge’s twitter special to celebrate International Women’s Day was to offer “2 for 1 drinks tonight ladies between 9-10 come on down for ladies day xx”.

The Knutsfordian fears something has been lost in translation.
