The A535 needs traffic calming

I RESIDE on the A535 at Twemlow Green between two hazardous bends.

This road has had several accidents due to speeding traffic during the 13 years I have lived here.

Over a period of 10 days we had three incidents outside our residence, two of which caused damage to our property.

Over the past 13 years I have had several meetings with the highways department, and succeeded in only having the speed limit reduced from 60 mph to 50 mph (which was more than 10 years ago).

I and neighbouring properties are presented with the additional problem of trying to exit and access our homes due to fast-approaching traffic.

There has been a noticeable increase in the volume of traffic using this road, especially heavy goods vehicles.

It is apparent from your recent article and letter in your newspaper that the whole stretch of the A535 needs to be addressed for traffic calming.

The time has now come for the police and the highways department to acknowledge that there is a problem with fast-moving traffic on the A535 from Holmes Chapel to Chelford.

As a safety measure a speed limit of 30 mph should be considered where there are residential properties.
