Local people are taken for granted by RHS

I WAS so annoyed at the organisers of the Tatton Flower Show this year that I decided not to go.

In previous years it was possible to buy tickets in advance, in Knutsford, at a significant discount, which was encouraging for Knutsfordians, (and particularly pensioners), and compensated them in some measure for the inconvenience caused by the various restrictions and traffic congestion for the duration of the show. I set out this year to buy two tickets as I had done in the past, but there were none to be had anywhere.

I asked at the library, and was told they had not received any information on anything to do with the show except for the leaflets they had on their rack. There was a number in the leaflet that you could ring for tickets, but there was a charge of £1.75 per ticket for ordering in this way. It did not suit me anyway, because the tickets would never have arrived in time.

It occurred to me that there was little interest on the part of the organisers to attract the people of Knutsford to the show. There was very little advertising of the show in the town, and as stated it was not easy to buy tickets in advance. It was as if local people were taken for granted, or it did not matter if they came or not.
