IT was great to see 10,000 vegetarians and vegans marching the streets of London in aid of animal rights. It was incredible to see so many different faces.
I think this proved, once again, that there is no stereotypical view of who vegans and vegetarians (veg*ns) are anymore.
Veg*ns come in all ages, abilities, genders, skin colours and much more. And every one of them has a right to be veg*n and be included in the movement.
Our charity, Vegetarian for Life, specifically helps to support older vegetarians and vegans. We campaign to ensure that older veg*ns have what they need, whether living independently or in care settings, so they are able to live as ethically as they choose to.
We are holding a Visibility Day on October 1 when we will share pictures and stories of inspirational older veg*ns. The aim is to alert the broader community to the need to make our movement more inclusive of older people.
Please send a photo of yourself, if you feel that you fit the bill. Please get in touch by emailing katie@ vegetarianforlife.org.uk or call the charity on 0161 257 0887.
