I REFER to the disciplinary hearing regarding the conduct of the Cheshire Police Chief Constable Simon Byrne and the involvement of the Police and Crime Commissioner David Keane.

It is quite clear that Mr Keane failed to follow policies and procedures.

The reason why is because Mr Keane has no experience of these type of matters.

Had the previous PCC John Dwyer been in post these mistakes would never have been made.

Why?

Because John Dwyer was a retired Assistant Chief Constable with Cheshire Police and would have been familiar with policies and procedures regarding police discipline matters.

Instead we have a PCC in David Keane who is clearly out of his depth in performing the role.

How much has the suspension, investigation and legal costs in this matter cost the public purse and more importantly the Cheshire council tax payer?

Mr Keane ought to do the right thing and resign.
