CAN someone please tell me why Cheshire needs 44 deputy lieutenants, one vice lord lieutenant and one lord lieutenant?
Who are they?
What do they do?
What is their ultimate purpose?
What effect do they have on our local Cheshire Communities?
What do they cost us, in money, in reputation, in keeping we plebeians in our place?
Why is their presence still tolerated, in a 21st century society?
How many of them have helped the struggle to keep our Knutsford and District War Memorial, built by local people, in remembrance of those local men who lost their lives in The Great War and wars since that time?
Neither the Secretary of State for Health nor British Red Cross had the right to remove what it ours.
If these people cannot even serve the purpose of helping to keep the common person’s hard earned ‘right of remembrance’ – as recorded for nearly a century in Knutsford Guardian - let us be rid of them.
