IN response to your mystery columnist there is a great difference between The Royal May Day celebrations and the proposed pub in the park.

The former is free to all and brings a lot of custom to local hotels, shops, cafes, restaurants and bars besides being a good day out for everyone.

In short, it benefits the town in lots of ways.

As I understand it the pub is a ticket-only event and who, after paying up to £164.20 for a ticket, will then want to visit the town, let alone dine there when food will be readily available on site?

I’m afraid this is not a win-win situation for anyone but the promoters of the event.
