FURTHER to the article in November 23 edition relating to MP Ester McVey’s support for a relief road linking Northwich Road to Manchester Road.
I believe this relief would have almost no impact on the congestion around the Canute roundabout.
The volume of traffic is not trying to get from the west side of Knutsford to the north (and vice versa), it is trying to get from the west and north to the south and east.
The relief road is required from Northwich Road to Chelford Road (and ideally to Mobberley Road too).
Those trying to get from Northwich Road to Manchester Road can already either use the cut through of Sugar Pit Lane/Ladies Mile or Tabley Hill Lane/Green Lane (or use the A556 and avoid the area altogether) and, while these cut-throughs might be annoying for those living on those routes, the volume of traffic is not high.
The link road suggested by Ms McVey to the roads minister would be a total white elephant.
